May 1, Downtown First Thursdays. DFT is a free monthly street party hosted in Downtown San Francisco taking place on every first Thursday of the month from 5pm to 10pm. Get ready for disco in the streets, DJs, live music, drag, fashion, street performances, and more.
May 1, First Thursdays at SFMOMA. From 12 noon–8 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, Bay Area residents can enjoy SFMOMA’s galleries filled with lively and inspiring art — for free.

May 18, Bay to Breakers. More than 70,000 costume-clad runners and walkers make their way from San Francisco Bay, a few blocks from the Embarcadero, to the Great Highway where the breakers crash onto the Pacific Coast’s Ocean Beach.

Thru October 5, Golden Gate Park Band’s Free Symphony in the Park. Golden Gate Park’s 30-piece symphony has been playing free concerts in Golden Gate Park since 1882. Many concerts feature music of specific nationalities or cultures, including costumed guest performances from dancers, singers, and speakers, who will enlighten and entertain.
