We’ve rounded up a few must-attend events that include festive activities, holiday markets, fun at the Ferry Building and much more. Check out our top picks and start marking your calendars:

December 1, Holiday Craft Making. Enjoy a craft break as you shop at the Ferry Building this holiday season. “It’s beginning to look like Christmas”: Make carolers from pinecones, customize your reindeer ornaments and write a letter to Santa.

December 1, HEAD WEST. Every first Sunday of the month, Head West will bring Bay Area Makers, Crafters, Designers, Artists + Vintage Merchants to the Ferry Building’s beautiful back plaza.

December 1-15, Holiday Shop Decorating Contest. The Ferry Building shops are decked out! Vote for your favorite shop’s décor for a chance to win a Holiday gift from the Ferry Building.

December 5, First Thursdays at SFMOMA. From 12 noon–8 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, Bay Area residents can enjoy SFMOMA’s galleries filled with lively and inspiring art — for free.

December 5, Downtown First Thursdays. Grab your friends and head downtown for DFT on Market Street & 2nd Street. Get ready for more live music, food, drag, DJs, free all-ages activities to fill up the night.

December 6-8, WinterFest: Holiday Lighting Celebration at Salesforce Park. Enjoy dancing and live music from Pop Rocks, holiday crafts, holiday beverages for purchase from Barebottle Brewing Company, and a countdown to the park’s holiday illumination at 5:15 pm.

December 6-15, Let’s Glow SF! Let’s Glow SF, the country’s largest holiday projection event, will return to downtown San Francisco for the 2024 holiday season. This free outdoor holiday event will use high-tech projectors and lasers to showcase large-scale pieces of animated art across the facade of four iconic SF buildings from 5:30-10 PM nightly.

December 7, Pop-Ups on the Plaza: Black Holiday Market. Celebrate local Black-owned businesses and get ready for the holiday season with a day of delicious food, crafts, community, and family fun at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market.

December 7, 14, 21, Holiday Music at the Marketplace. The Ferry Building is the place to be for the Holidays! Every Saturday, stop by to enjoy classic Holidays songs while shopping through the Marketplace.

December 8, Holiday Craft Making. Enjoy a craft break as you shop at the Ferry Building this holiday season. “Let it Snow”: Craft snowflakes from everyday ordinary objects like clothespins, cotton swabs and beads.

December 11, Holiday Open House & Wine Tasting. Stroll around the marketplace while tasting Napa wines and enjoying the music of the Awesome Orchestra Jazz Band.

December 13-January 5, KALEIDOSCOPE – A Winter Holiday Spectacular. Performed in the round in a 350-seat Big Top Circus Tent at The Crossing, the beauty of KALEIDOSCOPE is the intimacy and immediacy of the one-ring circus.

December 14, Parol Lantern Festival & Parade. Don’t miss the Annual Parol Lantern Festival and Parade, a Filipino-American tradition in San Francisco showcasing the beautiful colors of their culture. 

December 14, CorePower Vinyasa Flow at The Crossing. Enjoy a free CorePower Yoga class every 2nd Saturday of the month at 1:00 pm. Get ready to stretch, sweat, and find your flow.

Thru December 19, Off the Grid at Embarcadero Center. Food truck service will be available exclusively at Two Embarcadero Center every Thursday. Please refer to the food schedule HERE to plan your next lunch.

December 22, Holiday Craft Making. Enjoy a craft break as you shop at the Ferry Building this holiday season. “Stocking Stuffers”: Decorate your own mugs, or window picture frame, for a unique DIY stocking stuffer.

Thru December 22, Great Dickens Christmas Faire. Over 4 acres of the historic Cow Palace exhibition halls are magically transformed into the winding lanes and bustling play houses of Victorian London. Immerse yourself in a world of theatres, pubs, dance parties, and charming shops.

December 31, New Year’s Eve Farmers Market. Get a fresh and healthy start to the New Year at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market. Stock up on fresh produce and grab lunch while you’re there.

Thru end of December, Makers’ Bazaar. Start your holiday shopping at the Makers’ Bazaar in The Crossing’s new Retail Pop-up Kiosk.

Thru January 20, Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square. The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink presented by Kaiser Permanente is back for its 17th magical season of outdoor skating and holiday festivities in the heart of downtown San Francisco.

Thru January 26, Glow. Step into the art and science of light at The Exploratorium and recharge your winter wonder.

Thru January 31, Illuminate SF Festival of Light. The annual display includes dozens of dramatic, eco-friendly light art installations accessible by public transit and admission-free.
