Nommo is Making News
Just a short one block, 3 minute walk, from your front door at Jasper is one of the newest additions to the Rincon Hill/East Cut food scene. Nommo, located at 396 Harrison (corner of Harrison and Fremont), is described as a place to gather. A bar. A restaurant. A place to share some oysters or some salumi. A space to start your evening with a beer and some frites, or end it with a cheese board and a cocktail.
A few months back, we showcased the opening of Nommo on our blog and now the restaurant has caught the eye of the San Francisco food culture and is getting some incredible write-ups. An SFEater article gave a detailed, inside look while also listing Nommo on their SF’s Hottest Cocktail Bars for May 2019. Even the San Francisco Chronicle recently covered the new addition to our neighborhood, with a review of the new cocktail spot from some local bar stars.
if you haven’t tried them out yet, let’s hear what Yelpers are saying/sharing about Nommo:
I didn’t realize until I went to Nommo that SF was missing a cured meats and wine spot. Well, Nommo has filled that spot. We went for a friend’s birthday and tried quite a bit of the menu:
Giardinera
Olives
Small charcuterie board
Cheese
Little Gem salad
Boudin blanc
Prosciutto
Salted caramel and mint straciatella ice cream
The charcuterie is made in house from their own pigs, and is delicious. They had some interesting selections on the charcuterie board (never had squid ink sausage before!), but I really enjoyed the selection, and the quality. The pate was great in a “used real cuts of meat” kind of way, and our table really enjoyed the prosciutto (which was a special, I think). The mint ice cream was the best I’ve ever had, hands down. You could tell they used fresh mint and it made all the difference. The wine selection wasn’t huge, but well curated and delicious. My dinner companions really enjoyed their cocktails. Service was knowledgeable, helpful and fun. – Brigitte J.
I was so excited watching this restaurant get ready to open and the wait was worth it! Fantastic addition to the community for simple European grazing foods. Had a little bit of everything with a meat board that was delicious and also interesting (squid in salami, who knew?), fries, mussels, and oysters. The wine selection did not disappoint and we cooled off from a warm day with a bottle of the Chenin Blanc. This is absolutely going to be my new go to spot and a nice addition given most restaurants in this area are so pricy. Can’t wait to come again. If you haven’t tried it, it’s about damn time. – Matthew P.
Excellent food. We had the oysters and burger and both were delicious. The Fort Point KSA beer on tap was excellent if you like something lighter. I’d highly recommend this place for the chill vibe and good eats. – Rebecca N.
Looks like Nommo is a hit. You can learn more and check out their food and drink menus on their website.
A line from their website sums it up quite nicely. In colloquial Japanese nommo means, “Let’s grab a drink.” We think that’s good advice.
