Nommo Comes to Harrison Street
After a hush-hush opening, the secret is out and Nommo has landed on Harrison! This fresh new spot is a partnership from two cocktail legends: Thad Vogler (Bar Agricole, Obispo, Trou Normand) and Jon Santer (Prizefighter) and is now serving up salumi and well-mixed drinks on the ground floor at 396 Harrison Street, just 0.1 miles from Jasper.
“I want [Nommo] to be a social place.” says Santer to EaterSF, “We want you to come in, have some drinks, some charcuterie, and hang out.”
Behind large beautiful glass doors the airy interior has a sleek wood style with reclaimed redwood and custom fixtures from Wylie Price (Obispo, Ramen Shop, The Progress) with seating for 100 spread across lots of group tables, including communal style seating and a magazine nook with a hidden TV above it.
“When you come in, it feels like a place where you catch up with old friends. It’s quiet and nicely lighted.” – Kuan H., Yelp
Nommo has a menu heavy on charcuterie, cheese and oysters. Beyond boards, Nommo serves a full menu of small plates like Little Gem Goddess, Chicory Caesar salad and Mangalista Lardo Toast, plus larger plates like a Nommo Burger, Boudin Blanc and Moules Frites, making it a great spot for dinner and drinks in the neighborhood. You’ll also find sweet ways to finish the evening with cookies, ice cream, Mint Chantilly Chocolate Pot de Crème and a cornmeal cake.
“It feels miles away from the San Francisco down below, serving excellent cocktails, charcuterie, and oysters at elevation. *Pro tip: It also has a Toki machine, serving up perfectly carbonated and chilled highballs in seconds.” – EaterSF
Complicated cocktails. Everything at Nommo starts ice-cold in freezers underneath the bar: All glassware is pre-loaded with pristine Clinebell machine ice. Rather than cooling down drinks as usual, Nommo’s bartenders are actually warming them up.
“Everything had to change,” says Santer to EaterSF, who needed to adjust recipes and techniques to account for differences in dilution. “The environment is upside down.”
Nommo is already making a name for themselves with a 4.5 Star Rating on Yelp + by being included on the Eater SF’s March “SF’s Hottest Cocktail Bars” and “The Hottest Restaurants in San Francisco Right Now” lists.
“Drinks are simple but smart (and there is also a prized Toki highball machine, serving perfectly chilled and carbonated beverages at a moment’s notice).” – EaterSF
