Pantone Color of the Year 2019
Leave the ultra violet blue-based purple shade in 2018 and let a new coral hue energize the way for the year ahead as Pantone announces PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral as the Color of the Year 2019! The Pantone Color Institute is the business unit within Pantone that highlights top seasonal runway colors, forecasts global color trends, and advises companies on color for product and brand visual identity. The Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences.
We want to see you integrate this new hue into your lives! Snap photos of the new color in your Jasper home décor and tag us @liveJasper #livejasper #livingcoral to share playful and interesting ways to incorporate the new Color of the Year.
“Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord.” – Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute
Pantone explains that vibrant, yet mellow Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.
“In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.”
Coral is a mixture of orange, pink and red. These hues can be mixed with intense saturation, creating a bold and vivid coral, or they can be toned down for a more subdued, muted shade. Here are a few ways to introduce your Jasper space to Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral:
Accents: Start off small and infuse your space with Living Coral. Whether its artwork, throw pillows, flowers, a throw or vases, you can easily incorporate this nurturing color. Small pops of coral decor can really bring an interior to life.
Living Area: Using the color coral in a room instantly adds warmth, energy and vibrancy to the decor. Add a Living Coral color accent chair paired with throw pillows on your sofa. Throw a rug with an over-sized print to the mix, it will add a whimsical touch to your space. Coral can be used effectively as an accent or even one of the primary hues of your color scheme when muted or combined with a complementary hue. Pantone also suggests using a softer palette, “Paying homage to skin tones around the world and the shades we use to enhance our complexions,” their combo Sympatico is comprised of a beautiful array of colors that fuse together a panoply of international skin tones with those soft and warm colors to create that healthy glow. The options are limitless.
Bedrooms: Living Coral is a lovely color to use in bedrooms or other settings where a calm, serene effect is sought. Coral corresponds to the element of water and the soothing energy of the ocean. Coral can take center stage when you pair it with a cool color like a Storm Gray. Create a clean, balanced look in the bedroom by adding a new comforter in this shade.
Kitchen: Pairing Living Coral and deep Beluga gray will give your kitchen a fun vibe. Pull your look together with pops of color around the room by adding bar stools, rugs, appliances, fresh flowers, dish towels and other accessories in of variations of this shade.
“PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, PANTONE Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.” – Pantone.
Sincerely Yours
