Four (or more) Places to Enjoy Independence Day
Looking for that perfect spot to celebrate Independence Day? Here are a variety of activities, settings, and venues to usher in the July 4th weekend.
For those looking for a great fireworks display over the San Francisco Bay, you’ll want to check out Pier 39, also offering family-friendly activities, and music. If outdoor activities are more your style, City Kayak offers the ever-popular “can’t be beat” view. Enjoy the fireworks while paddling along the waterfront, offering epic view of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz.
Pick a spot. Any spot. But make it special… Gather with friends and family, pull up a chair and enjoy the show from one of these unique destinations:
Head to the high ground and hike up to Coit Tower for the fireworks show. Bring a coat for the cool summer breeze and a thermos of your favorite Ghirardelli hot cocoa.
The West Bluffs Crissy Field picnic area is great for large groups who want to make a day of it. Pack a picnic, spread out on the expansive green lawn area and enjoy a memorable fourth.
Experience a different view of San Francisco by heading across the Bay Bridge to Treasure Island. The island’s west side has plenty of lawns for you to cozy up and view the show.
Venture over to Angel Island and bring your bike along or rent one! The Blue & Gold Fleet offers up your Independence Day fireworks from a different perspective.
Berkeley Marina July 4th A family-friendly event for all. Live music, arts and crafts, a children’s play area, pony rides, food. Noon-10 p.m. Free. Berkeley Marina, 160 University Ave., Berkeley.
